As she gets to know Ian, she finds herself attracted to his take-charge attitude. Since Ricki has always been the responsible one before, this trip with her dad puts her in a dependent role and she isn’t comfortable with it.

But Ricki thinks she’s ever in control–the perfect manipulator. He really isn’t what he seems to be, and it made me sad. And now here I was, living my childhood dream.

So, if you’re looking for a quick summer read, this is definitely one of them!

Before I actually got to go to the place we were staying, a few other people and Chasinh who came early stay I was really excited about this book.

It all changes though, when they have to go after Ian, a seventeen-year-old that skipped bail and has some shady charges on his record. While Chasing the Skip wasn’t what I expected and I’m left a little disappointed with it all, it still was a good enough read, and Ricki’s funny remarks were good to keep me going.

Although this book is a fun read, it also tackles some darker themes. She used to tell herself stories of the exciting life her father led, inventing jancii mythology to explain his absence, but it turns out, he’s just been a jerk. I should have just crashed with Anna instead of going to Grandma’s.

Stuff like that can get super gimmicky, but I really felt like in this book it added something to the story.
